Each year, SGE and its employees reach out to the community where they work and live. From beach cleanups to food drives, SGE’s employees get involved and give back to the community.

SGE has participated in the following:

  • Adopt-a-family for Christmas – A group of SGE’s employees participated in the Christmas Adop-a-Family program with Child and Family Services of Newport RI, so families can have the Christmas they will not get otherwise.
  • Thanksgiving and Christmas Food Drives – In 2008, we collected almost 1,000 non-perishable items to benefit the Martin Luther King Center in Newport RI for their Holiday Basket programs. In 2007, the Holiday Baskets provided over 9,000 meals to those in need.
  • Computer Donation – SGE donated 5 computers and keyboards to the Martin Luther King Center in Newport RI. Once refurbished, the equipment will be made available to families who would otherwise be unable to own a computer.
  • Beach Clean-up, Sachuest Beach, Newport, RI – Employees volunteered their time for a beach clean-up organized by Save the Bay and the Surfrider Foundation.
  • Iraqi Children Aid and Relief Effort – Rehabilitation of a two-story building to serve as a dormitory for orphan girls; donations of food, toys and clothing to local churches; recreational improvements to local athletic sport fields.
