Nickerson’s Garage

Little Compton, RI

SGE dba Northeast Engineers & Consultants collected and screened soil samples surrounding each tank with a photoionization detector (PID) to determine if the surrounding soils had been significantly impacted by petroleum product during the removal of 5 Underground Storage Tanks (USTs). Elevated PID readings, a petroleum sheen, stained soil, and strong odors were observed indicating that petroleum had been released. About 1,000 tons of contaminated soils were excavated during the UST removal. The property is now in compliance with the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management UST Regulations.
